The 100 Club

Daniel Gillham11 Jul 2016 - 10:02

Smith and Gillham join the 100 club

George Smith and Danny Gillham were awarded their Goresbrook CC 100th colts appearance caps before the game against Gidea Park and Romford on Sunday morning.

Both boys joined and made their debut for Goresbrook CC during the 2009 season as seven year olds, having met and played football together at Dagenham United FC.

Over the last seven years George has become an ever dependable seam bowler who often opens the bowling for the Under 15s and has a safe pair of hands in the field. During his 100 appearances George has taken 85 wickets at 12.71 and taken 21 catches. As a lower order batsman George can help bolster the score with some big hitting and he averages just over 9 with a top score of 25 not out.

Along with the statistics, George has been a popular and well liked player representing the club at all ages between Under 9 and and Under 16 and was the 370th player to appear for one of the adult teams.

Danny Gillham who belatedly received his 100 cap has now represented the colts on 124 occasions and is a fine wicket keeper who can also bat. Danny has taken 60 catches and carried out 48 stumpings to date. He has also scored 1482 runs at 22.80 with a top score of 88 and his part time bowling has returned him 9 victims at 15.78.

Danny has played for all colts sides between U9 and U19 and was the 363rd player to represent the adult teams.

Danny is steadfastly maintaining his luxurious locks in the hope that in the event of Goresbrook starting a girls XI, he can add to his appearance tally there too.

With the introduction of the U19 age group these two players will be looking catch up with the likes of Ben Irving and Shane Barwick who have appeared 177 and 168 times respectively.
